Penny Puddle, the human-powered financial planning web site, is officially in beta. The beta test is currently only available to closed group of users, but the site will go live in January and be available to the public. Penny Puddle is a new service that replaces expensive financial planning boutiques (which can charge thousands for a financial plan) with an affordable online option that’s powered by real people. I’ve been working closely with the founder, David Podley, to get the site ready to go. Stay tuned for details.
So after playing with Wordpress 2.7 for a couple of days I’m happy to report that it’s working great! I love the new admin interface and I haven’t seen any issues with my theme customizations. There are some really nice usability features built into 2.7; I’m typing this post in using the “QuickPress” widget, and there is a built-in software upgrade tool now, so no more FTP’ing the latest updates to the server, copying over folders, etc. Really really nice update; I’d go check it out if you’re a Wordpress user (and if you’re not, you should be!)
The new version of Wordpress, 2.7, is hot off the press and ready to download and install. I just ran the update and the new admin interface is amazing. Kudos to the Wordpress team!
I just got back from an OC Podcasters meetup tonight. Our guest speaker was DJ Steve Boyett, the producer of the extremely popular Podrunner podcast. Many thanks to Steve for making the trek to the meeting and sharing his experience, and if you’re looking for a great music podcast to exercise to you should check out his show.
Here’s an excerpt from a recent Charlie Rose interview with Nassim Taleb, author of The Black Swan and Fooled by Randomness. It’s a very interesting perspective on how we got into our current economic mess.
Seth Godin has an interesting post up that asks the question “are you marketing gravity or evolution?” His point being that while both are theories, one was a very easy sell and the other continues to be difficult to convince people of. While his post is a bit light on how to go implement this, it’s an interesting thought question and worth a read. Thanks to Alex Nesbitt for the tweet.
